The e Visitor visa (subclass 651)
The e Visitor visa is an electronic visa that can be applied for entirely online. This is the most frequently used type, because it is the cheapest visa and the application procedure is quick and easy. The e Visitor can be requested by those with citizenship of the following countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania , Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain, Czech Republic, Vatican City, United Kingdom, Sweden and Switzerland.
Travelers from the USA, Canada and some Asian countries cannot apply for an e Visitor, but an ETA (subclass 601). The ETA has the same characteristics in terms of requirements and validity, but is more expensive. Therefore, the best solution for Italian travelers is to apply for an e Visitor visa for Australia.
Activities that can be done with an e Visitor visa:
With an e Visitor it is possible to work in Australia, as long as the Australian Department of Immigration considers the move a business trip. The activities mentioned below are considered part of a business trip and can be carried out while traveling with anĀ e Visitor:
- participation in conferences, trade fairs and other events
- meetings with (potential) business partners
- negotiation of commercial agreements
- participation in non-medical education or training
- one of the above activities in conjunction with a holiday visa in Australia
Activities that cannot be done with an e Visitor visa
The following activities, however, are not permitted while traveling on an e Visitor visa:
- Hiring by an Australian company
- Selling or providing consumer products and services in Australia
- Selling or providing services and products to businesses or entities in Australia
- Jobs paid by an Australian institution (it is possible to be paid by your employer based outside Australia)
